There is a wide variety of locations, or "nodes," that you can encounter in Nowhere Prophet as you search for the Crypt. Your playthrough begins on a Milestone, and each map contains multiple paths and nodes, ending with another Milestone that is guarded by a boss.
Crossroads[edit | edit source]
The majority of locations bear the generic name Crossroads and trigger the same random events that can occur while you travel between nodes. You can enter the location to inspect your cargo and your decks, but no location-specific options are offered here.
Reward nodes[edit | edit source]
Quest nodes[edit | edit source]
Yellow Crossroads are quest nodes, special locations that do not occur randomly but are added to your map as a result of your choices in previous events. Reaching them triggers a specific event that often leads to rare rewards. Though quest nodes are all named "Crossroads", the related event is specified underneath as a "Hint."
Camps[edit | edit source]
Camps are safe locations that offer one or more opportunities to heal your Prophet or followers. No event is triggered by reaching a Camp.
Fortifications[edit | edit source]
These nodes are guaranteed to result in a fight against a tougher enemy than average, and bear a name based on that enemy’s faction (e.g. Blue Devil Camp, Raj Guard Outpost, etc.). These battles give more Experience and better rewards.
Named locations[edit | edit source]
Named locations do not trigger random events, but may feature events of their own. Most are simply safe nodes that offer one or more services and have randomly-generated names.
Market[edit | edit source]
These safe nodes let you buy and sell cargo. They have names such as "Farm" or "Trading Post" on the map, but they show a randomly-generated proper name when visited.
Healing[edit | edit source]
These safe nodes offer healing to your Prophet and followers, and often other services or events. They have names such as "Temple" on the map, but they show a randomly-generated proper name when visited. They usually also include a market.
Teacher[edit | edit source]
These safe nodes include a guru or technopath who can teach you a new Leader card from a specific class or grant you a Focus point in exchange for batteries. Higher-level teachers are more likely to offer rarer cards. They have names such as "Teacher’s Shrine" on the map, but they show a randomly-generated proper name when visited. They usually also include a market.
Recruiting[edit | edit source]
These safe nodes let you "purchase" new followers for batteries. They have names such as "Township" on the map, but they show a randomly-generated proper name when visited. They usually also include a market.
Unexplored[edit | edit source]
Unexplored locations are like smaller Milestones. Each one is named and has set events, explorable areas and services. Their rewards are proportional to the danger they contain, and they may also add quest nodes to your map. The appearance of specific unexplored locations depends on the type of map you find yourself in and is more likely the farther away you go from the main road.
Milestones[edit | edit source]
Milestones mark the end of each map and require you to defeat one or more Bosses before you can enter their location. They offer opportunities to heal, recruit followers and trade, as well as Milestone-specific events to explore. Reaching a Milestone grants 25 Hope to the convoy.
